Troubleshooting Squarespace problems
Common Squarespace problems and how to fix them — from changes not showing up to login issues, broken layouts, and forms not working.
Something isn't working as expected on your Squarespace site? This guide covers the most common problems and their solutions. Start with the quick fixes first.
Quick summary
Most Squarespace problems have simple fixes: hard refresh your browser, try a different browser, check that you saved your changes, or clear your cache. If the problem continues after these steps, contact Chykalophia.
Start here: the universal first steps
Before anything else, try these three things:
- Hard refresh your browser — Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac
- Open the page in an incognito / private browser window
- Try a completely different browser (e.g., Chrome if you're using Safari)
These steps rule out browser caching issues, which cause the majority of "something looks wrong" reports.
My changes aren't showing up on the live site
This is almost always a browser cache issue.
Confirm you clicked Save in the editor.
Hard refresh: Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac).
Try incognito mode to see the page without any cached data.
If changes still aren't showing after these steps, log back into the editor and confirm the content is saved correctly.
I can't log in to Squarespace
Check you're going to the correct URL: account.squarespace.com.
Check your email address — make sure you're using the one registered to your Squarespace account.
Try the "Forgot password?" link to reset your password.
Check for a two-factor authentication prompt — if you have 2FA enabled, you need to enter the code from your authentication app.
My site looks broken or styling is wrong
If images are missing, text looks wrong, or the layout is off:
- Check on a different device — is the problem on all devices or just one?
- Clear your browser cache (not just a hard refresh — go into browser settings and clear all cached files).
- Check if the problem is new — did you recently save changes to Site Styles? If so, those changes are live. You may need to reverse them.
If the layout broke after a recent edit, use Page History to restore an earlier version. See Page history & duplicating.
My form submissions aren't arriving
Check your spam folder — form notifications often land in spam.
Test the form yourself by submitting a test entry.
Check the form settings — go to the form block settings and verify the correct email address is entered as the notification destination.
Check Form Responses in Commerce — submissions should also appear there even if emails aren't arriving.
My store isn't working correctly
If products aren't showing, checkout is failing, or orders aren't appearing:
- Check your Commerce plan — store features require a Commerce plan. Go to Settings > Billing.
- Verify your payment gateway — make sure Stripe or PayPal is correctly connected in Commerce > Settings > Payments.
- Test checkout yourself with a small test purchase.
- For payment issues, check the Stripe or PayPal dashboard for error messages.
My domain isn't working
If your custom domain isn't connecting to your site:
- Check the domain status in Settings > Domains. Look for error messages or "pending" status.
- DNS changes take time — after updating DNS records, wait up to 48 hours.
- Check DNS records are correct — compare against Squarespace's required settings in their help center.
See Connecting a domain for full guidance.
The site is completely down
If your site shows a Squarespace error page or isn't loading at all:
Check Squarespace's status page at status.squarespace.com. If Squarespace is having an outage, it will be shown there.
Check your subscription — if your billing failed, your site may have been suspended. Go to Settings > Billing.
Contact Chykalophia if you can't identify the problem.
