Squarespace email campaigns (overview)

An overview of the Squarespace Email Campaigns feature — what it does, how it compares to other tools, and how to get started sending newsletters.

squarespaceemailbeginner

Squarespace includes a built-in tool for sending email newsletters and marketing campaigns, called Email Campaigns. This guide explains what it does and whether it's the right tool for your needs.

Quick summary

Squarespace Email Campaigns lets you send branded email newsletters to your subscriber list from within Squarespace. It's an add-on feature with its own pricing. It's a simple, beginner-friendly tool — but not as powerful as dedicated email marketing platforms like Mailchimp or Klaviyo.

What is Squarespace Email Campaigns?

Email Campaigns is a feature built into Squarespace that lets you:

  • Build and manage a subscriber list — collect email addresses through forms on your site
  • Design and send email newsletters — using templates that match your site's visual style
  • Automate welcome emails — send an automatic email when someone subscribes
  • Track performance — see open rates and click rates for each campaign

How it's priced

Email Campaigns is not included in most standard Squarespace plans. It's typically a paid add-on (or included in higher-tier plans). Pricing is based on the number of emails you send per month. Check your current plan in Settings > Billing & Account to see if it's included, or visit Squarespace's pricing page for current rates.

Pricing changes

Squarespace adjusts its feature bundling and pricing over time. Check the current pricing directly in your dashboard or at squarespace.com rather than relying on any static list.

What it's good for

Email Campaigns works well if:

  • You're just getting started with email marketing
  • Your subscriber list is relatively small (under a few thousand)
  • You want your emails to match your site's design without much extra work
  • You don't need complex automations or advanced segmentation

When to consider a dedicated tool instead

Consider a tool like Mailchimp, Klaviyo, or ConvertKit if you need:

  • Complex automations (multi-step email sequences based on customer behavior)
  • Advanced segmentation (different messages for different subscriber groups)
  • Detailed analytics beyond basic open and click rates
  • Large list management at scale
  • WooCommerce or Shopify integration

Squarespace Email Campaigns does not replace these tools for serious email marketing.

Getting started with Email Campaigns

Go to Marketing > Email Campaigns in your dashboard.

If prompted, start your free trial or subscribe to the add-on.

Create a mailing list — this is the group of subscribers you'll send to.

Connect a signup form on your website to your mailing list so new subscribers are added automatically.

Create a campaign — click New Campaign, choose a template, and write your email content.

Send or schedule your campaign when ready.

Building your subscriber list

You grow your list by adding signup forms to your site. You can use:

  • The built-in Newsletter block — a simple email input with a submit button
  • A Form block connected to your Email Campaigns mailing list

Squarespace automatically handles the opt-in confirmation email when someone signs up.
