Contributors & permissions
How to add, manage, and remove contributors in Squarespace, including the different permission levels available.
Squarespace lets you add other people as contributors to your website. Each contributor has their own login and can be given different levels of access. This guide explains how to add contributors — including giving Chykalophia access.
Quick summary
Go to Settings > Permissions to add a contributor. Enter their email address and choose a role. They'll receive an invitation by email. To give Chykalophia access, invite support@chykalophia.com with the Administrator role (unless your project lead specifies otherwise).
Why use contributors?
Contributors let multiple people work on your site without sharing your own password. Each contributor logs in with their own email and password. If you need to remove someone's access later, you simply remove them — no password changes needed.
Contributor roles
Squarespace has several contributor roles with different levels of access:
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Administrator | Full access — same as the account owner (except billing) |
| Content Editor | Edit pages and blog posts, but not access site settings |
| Billing | Manage billing only |
| Trusted Comment Author | Approve and post blog comments |
| Comment Moderator | Moderate comments only |
| Store Manager | Manage orders and products (Commerce plans) |
| Store Fulfillment Staff | Mark orders as fulfilled, view orders only |
For most cases, you'll use Administrator for Chykalophia and Content Editor for staff who need to update content.
Adding a contributor
Go to Settings in your dashboard.
Click Permissions (sometimes listed as "Permissions & Ownership" or under the account settings area).
Click Invite Contributor.
Enter the email address of the person you're inviting.
Choose the role for this contributor (see the table above).
Click Send Invite. The person will receive an email invitation.
Giving Chykalophia access
When your project lead asks you to invite us to your Squarespace site:
Follow the steps above to invite a contributor.
Enter the email address: support@chykalophia.com — unless your project lead has given you a different address.
Set the role to Administrator.
Click Send Invite.
Let your project lead know that the invitation has been sent.
Why Administrator?
We need Administrator access to do most technical work on your site — updating settings, editing pages, adjusting design, and connecting integrations. We treat this access with care and only do what we've discussed with you.
Removing a contributor
Go to Settings > Permissions.
Find the contributor you want to remove.
Click the options menu next to their name and choose Remove.
Confirm the removal. Their access is revoked immediately.
Transferring ownership
The account owner is the person who originally created (and pays for) the Squarespace account. Ownership can be transferred to another Squarespace user. This is a more involved process — contact Squarespace support or talk to Chykalophia if you need to transfer ownership.
