Troubleshooting Webflow problems
Common Webflow issues and how to fix them — from changes not showing to the Editor not loading or CMS items not appearing.
Most Webflow problems have simple explanations. This guide walks through the most common issues clients encounter and how to fix them.
Quick summary
Most Webflow issues fall into a few categories: changes not going live (forget to publish), cached pages (need a hard refresh), access problems (wrong email or missing invitation), or Editor elements not editable (design-level lock). If none of the fixes here resolve your problem, contact Chykalophia.
My changes aren't showing on the live site
Most likely cause: You made changes but didn't click Publish.
Changes in the Webflow Editor are saved automatically but aren't pushed to the live site until you publish. Click the Publish button in the Editor toolbar and confirm.
Also try: Hard refresh your browser (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) to clear the cached version of the page.
The Editor toolbar isn't appearing on my site
Possible causes:
- You're not logged in to Webflow. Go to webflow.com, log in, then return to your site.
- You're logged in with the wrong email. Check that you're using the email address Chykalophia used when inviting you.
- You haven't been added as a collaborator. Ask Chykalophia to add you.
- Try the direct URL method: add
?editto the end of your site's URL (e.g.,yoursite.com?edit) and log in when prompted.
I can't click on some text to edit it
Some text elements are not set as editable in the Editor. This is a deliberate design decision — those elements can only be changed in the Designer.
If you need to edit text that isn't responding to clicks, submit a request to Chykalophia.
A CMS item I published isn't showing on the live site
Check two things:
- Is the item status set to Published (not Draft)? Open the item in the CMS panel and check the toggle.
- Did you click the main Publish button after saving the item? Both steps are required.
My images look blurry or stretched
Blurry: The uploaded image is too small for the space it's in. Replace it with a larger version (aim for at least 1920px wide for hero images).
Stretched: The new image has a different aspect ratio than the original. The container expects a certain shape. Try cropping your image to match the original proportions, or ask Chykalophia to adjust the container.
My form submissions aren't arriving by email
- Check the notification email in your project's Form settings (Project Settings → Forms tab).
- Check your spam folder — Webflow emails sometimes land there.
- View submissions directly in the Dashboard to confirm they're being received at all.
See Finding & managing form submissions for full details.
The site is down or showing an error page
Check Webflow's status page first: webflowstatus.com. If Webflow is experiencing an outage, all you can do is wait.
If the status page shows all clear:
- Check that your Webflow hosting plan is active and billing is current.
- Check that your domain's DNS records are still pointing to Webflow. (DNS records can sometimes be accidentally changed.)
- Contact Chykalophia.
My domain is connected but showing a security warning ("Not secure")
This usually means the SSL certificate hasn't been issued yet, or there's a problem with it.
SSL certificates are issued automatically by Webflow after DNS connection, but it can take a few hours. If the site has been connected for more than 24 hours and still shows a warning, contact Chykalophia.
I accidentally published something I shouldn't have
Restore the previous version. See Backups & version history.
If you need help restoring, contact Chykalophia immediately.
