SEO settings in Webflow
How to edit page titles, meta descriptions, Open Graph settings, and other SEO fields in Webflow to improve your search visibility.
Good SEO starts with accurate, well-written page titles and meta descriptions. Webflow gives you control over these fields for every page and CMS item. This guide explains where to find them and how to write them well.
Quick summary
Each page and CMS item in Webflow has its own SEO title and meta description. Edit them in the Editor or via the page settings panel. Write a unique title (50–60 characters) and description (120–160 characters) for every page. Also upload an Open Graph image so your site looks great when shared on social media.
What you'll need
Intermediate 10 minutes per page- Access to the Webflow Editor or Designer (for page-level SEO settings)
- Your SEO titles and descriptions written out in advance
Understanding SEO fields in Webflow
Every page on your Webflow site has:
| Field | What it does | Ideal length |
|---|---|---|
| SEO Title | The text shown in search results and browser tabs | 50–60 characters |
| Meta Description | The description under the title in search results | 120–160 characters |
| Open Graph Title | Title when shared on social media | 50–60 characters |
| Open Graph Description | Description on social media shares | ~200 characters |
| Open Graph Image | Preview image on social media shares | 1200 × 630 px |
The SEO Title and Meta Description are the most important for search engine rankings and click-through rate.
Editing SEO settings for a static page
Open the page in the Designer (this may require Chykalophia's help for design-locked pages).
Open the Page Settings. In the Designer, look for the Pages panel on the left side. Click the settings gear icon next to the page you want to edit.
Fill in the SEO fields. Update the SEO Title, Meta Description, and Open Graph fields.
Save and publish. Click the Publish button to make the changes live.
Editor vs Designer for SEO
For static pages, SEO settings are in the Designer. For CMS items (blog posts, etc.), SEO fields are usually available directly in the CMS item editing panel within the Editor. Your setup may vary — if you can't find an SEO field, ask Chykalophia to check the configuration.
Editing SEO settings for CMS items
Many CMS Collections (like Blog Posts) have dedicated SEO fields right in the item editing panel.
Open the Editor and go to your CMS panel.
Open the item you want to edit (e.g., a blog post).
Scroll down in the editing panel to find the SEO or Meta section.
Fill in the SEO Title and Meta Description fields.
Save and publish.
Writing a good SEO title
A good SEO title:
- Includes your main keyword (the phrase people search for)
- Is 50–60 characters long (longer titles get cut off in search results)
- Clearly tells the searcher what the page is about
- Is unique — don't reuse the same title across pages
Example: "Brand Identity Design for Startups | Chykalophia"
Writing a good meta description
A good meta description:
- Summarizes the page content in one or two sentences
- Includes your main keyword naturally
- Is 120–160 characters long
- Ends with a call to action (optional but effective): "Get in touch today."
Example: "We design brand identities that help startups stand out and attract the right clients. See our work and book a free discovery call."
The Open Graph image
The Open Graph image is what shows when your page is shared on social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, etc.). It should be:
- 1200 × 630 pixels
- Branded — include your logo or a relevant, high-quality image
- Different from your site's regular images if possible — design it to look good in a social media feed
Upload the image in the SEO/Open Graph section of the page settings.
