Webflow Ecommerce (overview)
An introduction to selling products through your Webflow site — what Webflow Ecommerce includes, how it works, and when it's the right choice.
Webflow Ecommerce lets you sell products directly through your Webflow website. This overview explains what it includes, what it's best suited for, and how to get started managing your store.
Quick summary
Webflow Ecommerce is built into Webflow — no separate plugin needed. It supports physical products, digital downloads, and subscription-style products. It's ideal for small to medium stores that prioritize design quality. For very large catalogs or complex store logic, WooCommerce may be a better fit.
What Webflow Ecommerce includes
Webflow Ecommerce is a complete selling platform built into your Webflow site. It includes:
- Products and categories — list physical or digital products with images, descriptions, variants (sizes, colors, etc.), and pricing
- Shopping cart and checkout — a customizable, branded checkout experience
- Payment processing — accepts major credit/debit cards via Stripe, and PayPal
- Order management — view, process, and fulfill orders from your Webflow Dashboard
- Customer accounts — optional customer login and order history
- Shipping settings — flat rate, free shipping, and weight-based options
- Tax settings — manual tax rules or automatic tax calculation (via integration)
- Inventory tracking — set stock levels and track inventory per product or variant
- Discount codes — create percentage or fixed-amount discount codes
- Email notifications — automated emails to customers and to you on key order events
What makes Webflow Ecommerce different
Webflow Ecommerce's biggest strength is design flexibility. Most e-commerce platforms use templates with limited customization. In Webflow, every part of the store — from the product page to the checkout — can be designed exactly to your brand.
This means your store looks as distinctive as the rest of your site, not like a generic e-commerce template.
What Webflow Ecommerce doesn't do well
Webflow Ecommerce is not the right choice for every store:
| Use case | Webflow Ecommerce | Consider instead |
|---|---|---|
| Small catalog (under 1,000 products) | Excellent | — |
| Custom-designed store experience | Excellent | — |
| Large catalogs (1,000+ products) | Limited | WooCommerce, Shopify |
| Complex subscriptions | Basic | Shopify, WooCommerce + plugins |
| B2B / wholesale pricing | Not supported | WooCommerce |
| Multi-currency stores | Limited | Shopify |
| App integrations | Limited | Shopify |
Ecommerce plans
Webflow Ecommerce requires a special Ecommerce site plan (not included in standard hosting plans). These plans vary by transaction volume and features.
Chykalophia will advise on the right plan for your store. Check webflow.com/pricing for current plan details.
