User roles & permissions in Webflow

Who can access your Webflow project, what each role can do, and how to add or remove team members.

Controlling who can access your Webflow project is important for security and smooth team working. This guide explains the roles available and how to manage them.

Quick summary

Webflow has two main access levels for clients: Editor (for content updates) and Admin/Designer (for design and settings). Add team members by inviting them to your project or Workspace. If you need to give Chykalophia access to your project, invite support@chykalophia.com unless your project lead has given you a different address.

How Webflow access works

Access to your Webflow site is organized in two places:

  1. Workspace-level access — who can work with the Designer and project settings
  2. Site-level Editor access — who can make content changes through the Editor

These are managed separately, and someone can have one without the other.

Workspace roles

Owner — the person who created the Workspace (often Chykalophia or your own organization). Has full control over everything.

Admin — can manage team members, billing, and all projects. High-trust role.

Editor (Workspace member) — can access and work in projects in the Designer. Usually a developer or designer role.

Most clients don't have a Workspace role — they use site-level Editor access instead.

Site-level Editor access (for clients)

Clients and content managers are typically added as Editors at the site level. This gives access to the content editing interface only — not the Designer or Workspace settings.

An Editor can:

  • Edit text and images on editable pages
  • Manage CMS items (add, edit, delete)
  • View form submissions
  • Publish the site

An Editor cannot:

  • Access the Webflow Designer
  • Change site settings
  • Manage other users
  • Access billing

This is the appropriate access level for most clients and their content teams.

Adding someone as a site Editor

Log in to webflow.com and open your project.

Go to Project Settings. Look for the settings gear on the project card.

Click "Editor Access" or "Collaborators."

Click "Invite collaborator."

Enter the person's email address. They'll receive an email invitation to join the project as an Editor.

Giving Chykalophia access

If Chykalophia needs access to your Webflow project (for maintenance, updates, or troubleshooting), invite:

support@chykalophia.com

...unless your project lead has given you a different address. See Give us access to your Webflow project for full instructions.

Removing someone's access

Go to Project Settings → Editor Access / Collaborators.

Find the person's name or email.

Click Remove or Revoke access.

For Workspace-level access, similar steps apply in your Workspace Settings.

Remove access when someone leaves

When a team member leaves your organization, remove their Webflow access immediately. This is part of good security hygiene. See Security steps when someone leaves.

Number of Editor seats

The number of Editor (collaborator) seats included in your Webflow plan varies by plan tier. Higher plans allow more collaborators. If you need more seats than your plan allows, you may need to upgrade.
