How to open the Elementor editor

Step-by-step instructions for opening the Elementor page editor from your WordPress dashboard.

elementorwordpressbeginnergetting-started

Before you can edit any page in Elementor, you need to open the editor. This guide shows you exactly how to get there from your WordPress dashboard.

Quick summary

Log in to WordPress, go to Pages (or Posts), hover over the page you want to edit, and click Edit with Elementor. The Elementor editor will open in a new screen.

What you'll need

Beginner 2 minutes
  • A WordPress login with at least Editor or Administrator access
  • The page or post you want to edit already exists

How to open Elementor from the Pages list

Log in to WordPress. Go to your site's login page (usually yoursite.com/wp-admin) and sign in with your username and password. If you are unsure of the address, see How to find your WordPress login URL.

Go to Pages in the left menu. In the WordPress dashboard sidebar, click Pages, then click All Pages.

Find the page you want to edit. You will see a list of all your pages. Scroll or search until you find the right one.

Hover over the page title. When you hover, a small set of links appears below the title.

Click "Edit with Elementor". This link opens the Elementor editor for that specific page. The WordPress editor will not show the Elementor design — always use this link instead.

Two different editors

WordPress also shows a plain "Edit" link. Clicking that opens the standard WordPress block editor — not Elementor. Always click Edit with Elementor to access the drag-and-drop design view.

How to open Elementor from the front end of your site

You can also open the editor while viewing your actual website.

Log in to WordPress first. You must be logged in for the edit link to appear.

Visit the page on your live site. Navigate to the page you want to edit in your browser.

Look for the Edit with Elementor button. While logged in, you will see a pencil icon or an "Edit with Elementor" button in the top admin bar at the very top of the page.

Click it. The Elementor editor opens for that page.

What happens when Elementor loads

When you click Edit with Elementor, the page reloads and you enter the editor view. You will see:

  • Your page content in the center of the screen
  • A panel on the left with widgets and settings
  • A bar at the top with publish options and view controls

This is the Elementor editing environment. For a full tour of what each area does, see A tour of the Elementor interface.
