How to log in to WordPress
Step-by-step instructions for accessing your WordPress dashboard from any device.
Logging in to WordPress takes you to your dashboard — the private control panel where you manage your website. This guide walks you through the process step by step.
Quick summary
Visit your login URL (usually yoursite.com/wp-admin), enter your username or email address and your password, and click Log In. If you don't know your login URL, see how to find your WordPress login URL. If you've forgotten your password, see how to reset your WordPress password.
What you'll need
- Your WordPress login URL (usually
yoursite.com/wp-admin— replaceyoursite.comwith your actual domain) - Your username or the email address attached to your account
- Your password

How to log in
Open your web browser. Any browser works — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge.
Go to your login URL. Type your website address followed by /wp-admin into the address bar. For example: yoursite.com/wp-admin. Press Enter.
Enter your username or email. Type the username or email address attached to your WordPress account into the first field.
Enter your password. Type your password into the second field. Your password is hidden as you type — this is normal.
Click Log In. The blue Log In button submits your details.
You're in. You'll land on your WordPress dashboard. If you see your website's content, menus, and settings — you're logged in successfully.
You're in
Once you see your WordPress dashboard — with the black menu on the left side of the screen — you're logged in and ready to manage your site.
Logging in on a phone or tablet
The process is the same on mobile. Open your browser, go to yoursite.com/wp-admin, and enter your credentials. The WordPress dashboard works on mobile browsers, though it can feel a bit cramped on a small screen. A tablet or laptop is more comfortable for editing content.
The "Remember Me" checkbox
On the login screen, you'll see a small checkbox labeled Remember Me. If you check it, WordPress keeps you logged in on that browser for longer — usually about 14 days. This is convenient if you're on a personal computer that only you use.
Shared computers
Don't check Remember Me on a shared computer, a public machine, or anyone else's device. Always log out when you're finished in that situation.
How to log out
When you're done in the dashboard, always log out — especially if you're on a shared device.
Move your mouse to your name in the top-right corner of the black admin bar at the top of the screen.
Click Log Out in the dropdown menu that appears.
You'll be taken back to the login screen, confirming you've been logged out successfully.
