How to open the template library
With a page open in Elementor, look for the folder icon in the top bar. It is usually labeled "Library" or shows a folder graphic.
Click it. The template library opens as an overlay.
You will see two main sections: Pages (full page designs) and Blocks (individual section designs).
You can also access the library by clicking the + button to add a new section and then selecting Library instead of a column layout.
Browsing pages
The Pages tab shows full-page designs for common page types — Home, About, Contact, Services, Portfolio, and more.
To find a page template:
- Click the Pages tab
- Browse by category using the filter on the left, or use the search bar
- Click a template preview to see a larger view
- Click Insert to add the full page layout to your current page
Inserting a page template replaces your current content
When you insert a full-page template, it replaces everything currently on the page. Only do this on a blank page, or after saving your current content as a template. Consider duplicating the page first as a backup.
Browsing blocks
The Blocks tab is more useful for most routine editing. Blocks are individual sections — a hero banner, a services grid, a testimonials row, and so on.
To insert a block:
Click the Blocks tab in the template library.
Browse by category (Hero, Features, Pricing, etc.) or search for a block type.
Click a block to preview it.
Click "Insert." The block is added to your page at the location you opened the library from.
Customize the block — replace the placeholder text, images, and colors with your own content.
My Templates
The third section of the library — My Templates — shows all the templates you (or Chykalophia) have saved on your site. See Saving & reusing your own templates for how to create them.
Tips for using library templates effectively
- Use blocks, not pages — inserting a whole page template on an existing page will wipe everything. Blocks are more surgical.
- Customize immediately — replace every piece of placeholder text and every stock photo before publishing. Generic template content on a live site looks unprofessional.
- Match your brand — after inserting a block, change its colors and fonts to match your global styles. See Global colors & fonts.
- Delete what you don't need — imported blocks may have more sections than you want. Delete the extras before publishing.
Pro vs. Free templates
Some templates are marked as Pro and require Elementor Pro to insert. If your site has Elementor Pro installed, all Pro templates are available.
Free templates are available to all Elementor users.
