Two types of text in Elementor
Elementor has two main widgets that display text:
| Widget | Used for |
|---|---|
| Heading | Page titles, section titles, H1–H6 tags |
| Text Editor | Body paragraphs, longer blocks of copy |
Both work in a similar way, but the Text Editor gives you a small toolbar for formatting (bold, italic, bullet lists, links).
How to edit a Heading widget
Click the heading text on your page. The left panel switches to show the Heading widget's settings. You will see a text field labeled Title.
Click inside the Title field in the left panel and edit your text there. Or double-click the heading directly on the canvas to edit it inline.
Press Enter or click outside the field when you are done.
Click Update or Publish in the top right to save your changes.
How to edit a Text Editor widget
Click the paragraph text on your page. The left panel shows the Text Editor widget settings.
Double-click the text on the canvas to enter inline editing mode. A small formatting toolbar will appear above the text.
Edit your text directly. You can type, delete, and paste as you would in any word processor.
Use the toolbar to make text bold, italic, add a link, or create a bullet list.
Click outside the text block to deselect it when you are done.
Click Update or Publish to save.
Pasting text from Word or Google Docs
If you paste text copied from Microsoft Word or Google Docs, it may bring along unwanted formatting. To paste plain text without formatting, use Ctrl+Shift+V (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+V (Mac). This gives you clean, unstyled text that inherits the page's existing styles.
Changing the heading level (H1, H2, H3…)
Headings have levels: H1 is the most important, H2 is a subheading, H3 is a sub-subheading, and so on.
To change a heading level:
Click the heading to select it.
In the left panel, look for the HTML Tag dropdown (in the Content tab).
Choose the heading level you want from the dropdown (H1, H2, H3, etc.).
Each page should have only one H1. Use H2 and H3 for section headings. This matters for SEO and accessibility.
Changing text color and size
Text appearance is controlled in the Style tab of the left panel.
Click the text element to select it.
Click the Style tab in the left panel.
Adjust the color, font size, font family, line height, or letter spacing using the controls provided.
If your site uses global fonts and colors, you may want to use those settings rather than one-off overrides on individual elements.
