Saving & reusing your own templates in Elementor
Learn how to save any Elementor section, widget, or page as a reusable template, and how to import it on other pages.
If you have a section that looks just right — a call-to-action block, a team grid, a testimonials row — you can save it as a template and reuse it on any page. This saves time and keeps your site consistent.
Quick summary
Right-click any section (or widget) in Elementor and choose "Save as Template." Give it a name. Later, when editing any page, open the template library (folder icon in the top bar), find your saved template under "My Templates," and click Insert.
What you'll need

- A section or page design you want to save
How to save a section as a template
Hover over the section you want to save until its grey handle appears at the top.
Right-click the section handle (or right-click anywhere on the section's edge).
Click "Save as Template" in the context menu.
A dialog box appears. Type a descriptive name for your template — for example, "Homepage CTA block" or "Services 3-column grid."
Click "Save." The template is saved to your Elementor library.
You can save widgets too
You are not limited to sections. You can right-click any individual widget and save it as a template. This is useful for custom-styled buttons, icon boxes, or text blocks you want to reuse exactly.
How to save an entire page as a template
With the page open in Elementor, click the upward arrow / publish area in the bottom left of the editor panel.
Look for "Save as Template" in the panel that expands, or use the hamburger menu → Save as Template.
Name the template and save. The whole page layout is stored as a reusable template.
How to insert a saved template on a page
Open any page in Elementor where you want to use the template.
Click the folder icon in the Elementor top bar. This opens the template library.
Click "My Templates" in the library sidebar to see your saved templates.
Find your template and hover over it to see the Insert button.
Click "Insert." The template content is inserted into the page.
Edit and customize as needed. The inserted content is fully editable — it is a copy, not a link to the original.
Templates are copies, not live links
Inserting a template places a copy of the design. If you update the original, pages that already used the template are not automatically updated. For site-wide elements that need to update everywhere (headers, footers), use the Theme Builder instead.
Managing your saved templates
To view, rename, or delete saved templates:
In the WordPress dashboard (not Elementor), go to Templates in the left sidebar. Elementor adds this menu item.
Click "Saved Templates." You will see a list of all your saved page and section templates.
Hover over a template to see options: Edit with Elementor, rename, delete, or export.
Exporting and importing templates
Templates can be exported as .json files and imported on another WordPress site running Elementor:
- Go to WordPress → Templates → Saved Templates
- Hover over the template and click Export
- On the other site, go to the same menu and click Import Templates
- Upload the
.jsonfile
This is a great way to share designs across sites or create backups of important templates.
