Working with Elementor forms
Learn how to edit, configure, and manage contact forms built with the Elementor Form widget, including fields, notifications, and submission settings.
Contact forms, lead capture forms, and inquiry forms are often built using Elementor's Form widget (available in Elementor Pro). This guide explains how to edit form fields, change where form submissions are sent, and manage responses.
Quick summary
Click any form on your page to select it in Elementor. In the Content tab, you can edit field labels, add or remove fields, and set the submit button text. In the Actions After Submit section, you can configure where notifications go and what happens after a successful submission.
What you'll need
Intermediate- Elementor Pro installed (the Form widget is a Pro feature)
- WordPress editor or administrator access
How to edit a form's fields
Open the page in Elementor that contains the form.
Click the form on the canvas to select it.
In the left panel (Content tab), you will see a list of form fields. Each field has a label, type (text, email, phone, etc.), and placeholder.
Click a field to expand it and edit its label, placeholder text, or whether it is required.
To add a field, click the + Add Item button at the bottom of the fields list.
To remove a field, click the X (or trash icon) next to it.
Click Update to save your changes.
Don't delete required fields from live forms
If a form is collecting leads or inquiries, be careful about removing fields that may have data already submitted. Deleting a field removes it from future submissions but does not affect past data.
Field types available
Elementor forms support these field types:
| Type | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Text | Short single-line answers (name, company) |
| Email address (with validation) | |
| Textarea | Longer messages (what can we help you with?) |
| Tel | Phone number |
| Number | Numeric input |
| Select | Dropdown menu with options |
| Checkbox | Single opt-in box |
| Checkbox Group | Multiple checkboxes |
| Radio | Single choice from a list |
| Date | Date picker |
| File Upload | File upload (Pro feature) |
| Hidden | Hidden field for tracking data (technical) |
Changing where form notifications go
Click the form to select it.
Scroll down in the Content tab to find "Actions After Submit."
Click the "Email" action (it should already be listed). Its settings expand.
Find the "To" field and update the email address where submissions should be sent. By default this is often the WordPress admin email. Change it to the right inbox — for example, info@yourcompany.com.
Update the Subject line if you want a more descriptive email subject.
Click Update to save.
Setting up a success message or redirect
After someone submits the form, you can show them a message or redirect them to a thank-you page.
In the Actions After Submit section:
- Message action — adds a "thank you" message that appears where the form was
- Redirect action — sends the visitor to a specific URL after submission (e.g., a dedicated thank-you page)
You can have both a message and a redirect, or just one. Displaying a clear confirmation message is important so visitors know their submission was received.
Viewing submitted form entries
If your site has Elementor Pro's form entries storage enabled, you can view past submissions:
- Go to Elementor → Submissions in the WordPress dashboard
- Find the form you want and click it to see its entries
Not all forms store entries
Some forms are set up to only send email notifications, not store entries in the database. If you do not see submissions stored, check the form's Actions settings to see if "Save Submissions" is enabled.
Testing a form
After making changes, always test the form by filling it out and submitting it yourself. Check that:
- You receive the email notification at the correct address
- The success message or redirect works correctly
- All required fields are enforced
