Duplicating & deleting elements in Elementor
Learn how to duplicate and delete sections, columns, and widgets in Elementor — and how to undo accidental deletions.
Duplicating saves time when you need the same element twice. Deleting removes content you no longer need. Both are quick in Elementor — and both are reversible if you make a mistake.
Quick summary
Right-click any element (section, column, or widget) to see options including Duplicate and Delete. You can also use the grey handles that appear on hover. Always use Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z to undo an accidental deletion.
What you'll need
Beginner 3 minutes- The Elementor editor open
How to duplicate an element
Duplicating creates an identical copy directly below (or beside) the original.
Right-click the element you want to duplicate (widget, column, or section).
Click "Duplicate" in the context menu that appears.
A copy appears immediately below (for sections) or to the right (for columns) of the original.
Hover over the element to reveal its handle (the grey bar with icons that appears at the top or left edge).
Click the duplicate icon on the handle — it looks like two overlapping squares.
A copy is created immediately.
How to delete an element
Deleting removes everything inside
When you delete a section, all columns and widgets inside it are deleted too. When you delete a column, all widgets inside it are deleted. Always check what is inside before you delete.
Right-click the element you want to remove.
Click "Delete" in the context menu.
The element is removed immediately. Undo with Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z if needed.
Hover over the element to reveal its handle.
Click the X or trash icon on the handle.
Click the element to select it.
Press the Delete or Backspace key on your keyboard.
How to undo a deletion
Elementor's undo history keeps track of recent changes:
- Keyboard shortcut: Press Ctrl+Z (Windows) or Cmd+Z (Mac)
- Top bar undo button: Click the left-arrow undo icon in the top bar
You can undo multiple times to step back through your recent changes. If you need to roll back further, see Undoing changes with revision history.
Copying and pasting elements
You can also copy elements and paste them in a different location — even on a different page.
Right-click the element you want to copy.
Click "Copy."
Navigate to where you want to paste — this can be elsewhere on the same page, or you can open a different page in Elementor.
Right-click in the target area (a column or container) and click "Paste."
Duplicating to a different page (Save as Template)
If you want to use a section or widget on a completely different page, the best approach is to save it as a template:
Right-click the element and choose "Save as Template."
Give it a name and save.
Open the other page in Elementor.
Open the template library (the folder icon in the top bar or the widget library), find your saved template, and insert it.
See Saving & reusing your own templates for more detail.
