Seasonal website checks

A practical guide to reviewing and updating your website before major seasons, holidays, and business events.

maintenancebeginnercontentseo

Certain times of year bring predictable changes to your business — different hours, promotions, new products, seasonal services. Your website should reflect those changes. This guide helps you stay ahead of them.

Quick summary

Before each major season or event — holiday period, new year, summer, launch of a promotion — run through a short review of your website. Check that hours, offers, content, and contact information are accurate. It takes less than 30 minutes and prevents customer confusion.

Why seasonal checks matter

Your customers visit your website expecting current information. If your Christmas hours are still showing in March, or your summer sale is still promoted after it ended, it creates confusion and can lose you business.

Search engines also reward fresh, relevant content. Keeping seasonal information current is a small but genuine contribution to your search visibility.

Use this as a rough guide. Adapt it to your industry and what matters most to your business.

What to check each season

Review your business hours. Are they accurate for the coming period? Include holiday closures, extended hours, or temporary changes.

Check your contact information. Phone numbers, email addresses, and any temporary contact changes.

Update or remove promotions. Remove any expired offers. Add any upcoming seasonal promotions, with clear start and end dates.

Review seasonal content. Blog posts, landing pages, or featured products relevant to the season. Remove or archive off-season content.

Check your homepage. Is the messaging relevant to the current season or upcoming events? The homepage sets the tone for every visitor.

Review your Google Business Profile. Update hours, add seasonal photos, post any announcements. This is separate from your website but equally important to customers finding you in search.

Test your forms. Especially before a busy season — you don't want to lose enquiries to a broken contact form. See Testing your contact & order forms.
