How to take a screenshot

Press Cmd + Shift + 4. Your cursor changes to a crosshair.

Click and drag over the area of the screen you want to capture. Release the mouse button.

The screenshot saves automatically to your Desktop as a PNG file named something like "Screenshot 2026-05-23 at 10.30.00."

Press Cmd + Shift + 3. The entire screen is captured immediately.

The file saves to your Desktop.

Press Cmd + Shift + 4, then press Space. The cursor becomes a camera icon.

Click the window you want to capture. The window is saved as its own screenshot.

Find the file on your Desktop.

Attach it to an email by dragging it into the compose window, or by clicking the paperclip icon in your email app.

Or drag it directly into a ClickUp comment when replying to a task.

Press Windows + Shift + S. The screen dims and a small toolbar appears at the top.

Choose your capture type:

• Rectangular Snip (most common) — click and drag to select an area
• Window Snip — click a window to capture it
• Full Screen Snip — captures everything

The screenshot is copied to your clipboard. A notification appears in the bottom-right corner.

Click the notification to open the Snipping Tool app where you can save the file.

To save: Press Ctrl+S and choose a location (like your Desktop).

Press the Print Screen (PrtScn) key on your keyboard. This captures the whole screen and copies it to the clipboard.

Open an app like Paint or Word, press Ctrl+V to paste, then save the file.

Press Alt + Print Screen to capture only the active window (not the whole screen).

Paste with Ctrl+V into Paint, Word, or your email.

Attach the saved file to an email using the paperclip icon.

Or paste the clipboard image directly into an email body or ClickUp comment with Ctrl+V (if it was saved to the clipboard).

Press the Side button and the Volume Up button at the same time. Hold for a moment and then release.

A thumbnail of the screenshot appears briefly in the bottom-left corner.

Tap the thumbnail to annotate or crop it, or swipe it left to dismiss. The screenshot is saved to your Photos app.

Press the Side button (or top button) and the Home button at the same time.

Release both quickly. The screen flashes and the screenshot appears in Photos.

Open the Photos app and find your screenshot (it's in Recents).

Tap the Share button (the box with an arrow pointing upward).

Choose Mail to attach it to an email, or Copy Photo to paste it into another app.

Press the Power button and the Volume Down button at the same time. Hold for about one second.

The screen flashes briefly and a screenshot notification appears at the top or bottom.

The screenshot saves to your Gallery or Photos app.

Swipe the edge of your hand horizontally across the screen from one side to the other.

This may need to be enabled first. Go to Settings → Advanced Features → Motions and Gestures and turn on "Palm swipe to capture."

Press the Power button and Volume Down at the same time — same as the standard method above.

Open your Gallery or Photos app and find the screenshot.

Tap the Share icon (usually looks like three dots connected by lines).

Choose Gmail, Outlook, or another email app to attach it to a message.
