How to create and edit pages in Shopify — including your About, Contact, and any other static pages on your store.

Shopify lets you create and edit static pages — like your About Us, Contact, or FAQ pages. These are different from your product pages, which Shopify manages automatically. This guide covers how to find, edit, and create pages in the Shopify admin.

Quick summary

Go to Online Store > Pages in your Shopify admin to see all your store pages. Click any page to edit its title and content. Use the rich text editor to add text, links, and headings. Click Save when you are done.

How to edit an existing page

Go to Online Store > Pages in the left-hand menu.

Click the page you want to edit (e.g. "About Us").

Edit the title if needed.

Edit the content in the editor below. You can type directly, add formatting (bold, italic, headings, bullet lists), and insert links.

Click Save. If the change doesn't show on your store straight away, reload the page in your browser.

How to create a new page

Go to Online Store > Pages and click Add page.

Enter a title for the page (e.g. "Our Story").

Write your content in the editor.

Set the page visibility. In the Visibility section, keep Visible selected to publish the page when you save, or choose Hidden to keep it off your store for now. You can give a hidden page a date to publish.

Click Save.

Add the page to your navigation if you want customers to find it. Go to Content > Menus, open the relevant menu, and add a link to your new page (choose the Pages link type). See Organizing products into collections — the navigation steps there apply here too.

Using the page editor

The Shopify page editor is a rich text editor. Here is what the main toolbar buttons do:

Formatting	Turns text into a paragraph, a heading (Heading 1 to Heading 6), or a blockquote
Insert link	Adds a hyperlink
Insert image	Inserts an image
Insert table	Adds a table

Alignment	Left, center, or right alignment
Show HTML	Switches to the raw HTML view

Shopify pages have limited design options

Pages in Shopify use a rich text editor, which is built for text, images, and simple tables. If you need a page with custom layouts, columns, or design elements (like a styled About page with photos), that is done in the theme editor or with a page builder app — not in this editor. Ask us if you need a more designed page.

Editing your privacy, return, and shipping policy pages

Shopify has dedicated fields for your legal policies (Return policy, Privacy policy, Terms of service, Shipping policy, and others such as Legal notice). These are separate from the regular Pages section.

To edit them:

Go to Settings > Policies in your Shopify admin.

In the Written policies section, click the policy you want to edit. To start from Shopify's template, click Insert template, then customize it. Templates are generated in English (Shopify has a few policy generators in French, Italian, and Spanish).

Edit the text and click Save.

The URL of a page

A page's web address ends in /pages/ followed by the page's URL handle. For example, a page with the handle our-story lives at /pages/our-story. To change the handle, open the page, click the pencil icon in the Search engine listing preview section, and edit the URL handle field (no spaces; use dashes between words). When you change it, Shopify pre-selects Create a URL redirect so the old address keeps working.

Common questions

Can I duplicate a page?

Shopify's help pages don't describe a duplicate button for pages. Its guide to duplicating a whole store says to copy and paste page content, so do the same here: copy the text from one page and paste it into a new one.

How do I delete a page?

Open the page, click Delete page, then click Delete to confirm. If the page is linked in one of your menus, that menu item is deleted too. Shopify's help pages don't describe a way to restore a deleted page, so copy anything you want to keep before you delete.

My changes are not showing up — why?

Make sure you clicked Save. If you saved and still do not see the update, reload the page in your browser (Shopify notes you might have to) or clear your browser cache.

Can I add images to a page?

Yes. Click Insert image in the editor toolbar, then upload an image, pick one of your product images, or paste a public image URL. The editor lets you size and align an image and wrap text around it, but for a more designed layout, the theme editor or a page builder app gives better results.
