WP Engine billing & plans
An overview of WP Engine's hosting plans, how billing works, and what to do if you have a question about your account charges.
WP Engine offers a range of hosting plans to suit different site sizes and business needs. Here's what you need to know about how plans and billing work.
Quick summary
WP Engine bills monthly or annually based on your chosen plan. Plans are defined by monthly visits, storage, number of sites, and available environments. You manage billing from the User Portal. If Chykalophia manages hosting on your behalf, we'll handle the account and communicate costs to you.
How WP Engine plans work
WP Engine plans define:
- Monthly visit limits — the traffic your site can receive before potential overage charges.
- Storage — disk space for files and databases.
- Number of Installs — how many WordPress sites the plan covers.
- Environments — whether staging and development environments are included.
- Additional features — some plans include Smart Plugin Manager, premium themes, or enhanced support.
All plans include automatic backups, SSL, CDN, and 24/7 support.

Billing cycles
WP Engine offers monthly and annual billing:
| Option | How it works | Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly | Charged each month | Flexible |
| Annual | Charged once per year | Typically discounted vs monthly |
Choose based on your budget preference and how certain you are about staying on the platform.

Overage charges
If your site exceeds the monthly visit limit in your plan, WP Engine may apply overage charges. These are based on additional traffic above your plan's limit. We monitor usage for clients on care plans and will alert you if you're approaching your limits.
