Signing in to Google Workspace
How to sign in to your Google Workspace account on a computer or phone, switch between accounts, and what to do if you're locked out.
Signing in to Google Workspace works just like signing in to any Google account — but you use your work email address (like you@yourcompany.com) instead of a personal @gmail.com address.
Quick summary
Go to mail.google.com or any Google app and sign in with your work email (you@yourcompany.com) and your password. If you've forgotten your password, your Workspace admin can reset it. If you can't reach your admin, contact us and we'll help.
What you'll need
Beginner 2 minutes- Your Workspace email address (e.g. you@yourcompany.com)
- Your password (set when your account was created, or reset by your admin)
- A web browser or the Google apps on your phone
Signing in on a computer
Open your browser and go to mail.google.com. You can also go to google.com and click the grid icon in the top-right corner to reach any Google app.
Enter your work email address. Type your full email, like you@yourcompany.com, and click Next.
Enter your password. Type your password and click Next. If you've turned on 2-step verification, you'll be asked to confirm with your phone or an app.
You're in. You'll land in your Gmail inbox. From here you can reach Drive, Calendar, Docs, and all other Google apps by clicking the grid icon (sometimes called the "waffle") in the top-right corner.
Signing in on your phone
Install the individual apps from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android):
- Gmail for email
- Google Drive for files
- Google Calendar for your calendar
- Google Meet for video calls
When you open any of these apps, tap Sign in and use your work email address. See Google Workspace on your phone for a full setup walkthrough.
Managing multiple Google accounts
If you also have a personal Google or Gmail account, you can be signed in to both at the same time. Here's how to switch between them:
Click your profile photo in the top-right corner of any Google page.
Choose the account you want. If the account isn't listed, click Add another account and sign in.
Easy to mix up
It's very easy to accidentally save a file in your personal Google Drive instead of your work Drive, or vice versa. Always check which account you're using before creating or uploading anything important.
Staying signed in
Most browsers will keep you signed in until you close a private/incognito window or explicitly sign out. On a shared or public computer, always sign out when you're done:
Click your profile photo in the top-right corner.
Click Sign out (or "Sign out of all accounts" if you have multiple).
If you can't sign in
Ask your Workspace admin to reset your password. Your admin goes to the Admin console, finds your account, and resets it. See Resetting a user's password for the steps.
If you are the admin and you've forgotten your own password, use the account recovery option on the sign-in page, or contact Google support.
Google may temporarily lock an account after too many failed sign-in attempts. Wait 15–30 minutes and try again. If it stays locked, your admin can unlock it from the Admin console.
Your admin creates your account and you receive an email with a temporary password. Check your spam folder. If you still can't find it, ask your admin to resend the welcome email, or have them give you the password directly.
